Once known as the 'River Farm' owned by George Washington, Stratford Landing is home to over 700 households. Our neighborhood is extremely unique, blending historical significance with modern charm and amenities. Our tree-lined streets, winding sidewalks, scenic views and wooded back yards make it hard to believe that we're located only 20-minutes south of Washington, D.C.

We welcome new residents and cherish those that have given so much to make our community a great place to live.
We are conveniently located to many valuable amenities and resources and boast a few of our own!

PEOPLE

Our community is home to young families with small children, retirees, active servicemen and women, veterans, working couples, homeowners and renters. Some folks have lived here their whole lives, others are 'transplants' from other states, while some have moved back in order to raise their children where they grew up. We welcome new residents to our community, and hope you will participate in the many activities and opportunities our neighborhood has to offer.

PLACE

Our neighborhood is primarily comprised of homes built in the late 50’s, 60's and 70's, some of which have been uniquely modernized and updated. It is characterized by long, winding sidewalks, large trees, big back yards, playgrounds, a local pool, an elementary school, lots of dogs, runners, walkers, children playing, people who enjoy spending time outside, bikers accessing the Mount Vernon Trail, and lots of flowers and green foliage in the spring. We also have a number of organized community activities and events that make this place extremely special.

POSSIBILITIES

Living here provides many conveniences, whether you simply need to run an errand or have visitors in town for the weekend. We are strategically located near valuable amenities, including the Hollin Hall Shopping Center, which is home to Safeway grocery store and other local retailers. We're only a few miles north of George Washington's Mount Vernon, a 10-minute drive to Old Town, Alexandria and 15-miles south of Washington, D.C.

2024-2025 Membership Drive

Posted 08/17/2024

We’ve got some exciting news—it’s time for our annual membership drive! Whether you’re renewing your membership or joining us for the first time, we’d love to have you be a part of our vibrant community. Our annual membership fee is just $10.00 and can be paid by check, money order, cash, online, or simply by scanning the QR code.

 Why Join the SLCA?

Our volunteer-led organization is at the heart of all things Stratford Landing! We provide leadership on key issues affecting our community, organize fun neighborhood activities, and represent you on the nonpartisan Mount Vernon Council of Citizens’ Associations (MVCCA). Our voice ensures that your interests are considered when the County makes decisions on vital topics like school planning, zoning, housing, public safety, the environment, and more.

 Stay Informed and Connected

As an SLCA member, you’ll receive e-Blast Alerts with important news and safety updates from our “community watch” network, as well as regular communication through our newsletter and social media platforms like our SLCA website and Facebook page.

 Mark Your Calendar

Our annual meeting is coming up in October, where we’ll vote on the SLCA’s budget and officers for 2024-25. Stay tuned to your email for details on the meeting’s date, time, and format (in-person, Zoom, or both). Remember, only members in good standing are eligible to vote—so make sure your membership is up to date!

The SLCA is here to serve and strengthen our community by providing a forum for sharing information, connecting neighbors, promoting activities, and fostering civic engagement. Let’s continue to care for our community together—renew or join today!

Jeff Todd Way is now being patrolled by Fairfax County law enforcement.

After local leaders pushed for the authority for Fairfax County Police to enforce traffic laws on Jeff Todd Way, that permission has been granted on the federally-owned road.

Per the police department, county and police department leaders came to an agreement with federal officials to allow the county's police officers to enforce local and state traffic laws on the roadway.

100% volunteer-led, membership organization, serving our community

The Stratford Landing Citizens Association (SLCA) is an integral part of our community that is committed to maintaining the well-being and character of our neighborhood and the individuals it serves. SLCA is not a Homeowner's Association nor is membership a requirement for living here. That said, there are many added benefits to being part of this organization, including community-based events for children, the ability to communicate and interface directly with Fairfax County leadership and officials on planning and zoning, the environment and public safety. Most important, SCLA provides opportunities to get to know other community members and how we all work together to make our neighborhood a great place to live, work and thrive!

Little Hunting Creek Watershed

Many residents in our neighborhood have direct access and direct views to Little Hunting Creek, a primary tributary for the Potomac River. The Little Hunting Creek watershed is just over 7,000 acres. The headwaters of Little Hunting Creek rise in Huntley Meadows Park, and the creek flows southeast to its confluence with the Potomac River (just east of George Washington's Historic Mount Vernon Estate). Little Hunting Creek is a valuable amenity for our neighborhood. The Friends of Little Hunting Creek organize a clean-up each year that brings our community together to care for this wonderful resource.
